end of the world 2012 not true

Is the world really going to end on 2012?
There are allot of rumors that the world is going to end on 2012. My science teacher says that since it is only a movie, that might not happen. Is it also true that 2012 is too fast for the world to end?
Why would any rational person believe that trash:
- because of a fictitious planet that can't hit us?
- because of a comet that isn't there?
- because of pole shifts that take thousands of years to happen?
- because of alignments of the sun and the galactic plane that happens every December?
- because of planetary alignments that can’t ever happen?
- because of an ancient calendar moving from the current cycle to a new one?
- because a bunch of nutjobs that were wrong about the world ending in 2003, but still have survival kits and books and tinfoil hats to sell to the gullible?
It’s a hoax that started in 2003 – I am surprised that some people still don’t get that.

is it true that in 2012 the world will end?!?
i don't get it. my uncle was explaining a stupid theory today so i was just like wtf is that true? i heard of it on the radio but i didn't think it was true. I DON'T want the world to end!! i wanna go to college. lol. so tell me is it true? i hope not.
I had an uncle that went around telling people about UFOs and aliens. Nice guy, really, but just a couple chicken nuggets short of a Happy Meal.
2012 is just a year. Your uncle is what we technically call "a nutter". No one over the age of 15 should EVER believe any of the crazy ideas those bozos thought up about 2012. Mind-numbingly silly ideas, like "aliens will return for our gold"... uh huh... or "when the Earth lines up with the Sun and the center of the Milky Way everyone on the planet will die"... sure, I can see that happening, uh, every year on Dec 21st when that "alignment" occurs... what?
Really, one lady said she got a message from aliens in her Starburst candy. Another guy said he is a reincarnated Mayan Princess. (hairy legs in the swimsuit contest but his interpretive dance number will make you cry). One guy came up with his idea while high on magic mushrooms. Hey, why do you think they call it "dope"?
Anyway... NO THE WORLD WON'T END on 2012 or any other day. Stay in school. Wear a seatbelt. Don't smoke. Get lots of exercise. Get lots of sleep. If you meet someone with a cold sore... shake hands.
And if you want to know more about 2012, stop by at http://www.2012hoax.org knock twice and tell them "Charlie sent ya."

The original prophet studied Arts in Chicago in the 1960s. He called himself Jose Arguelles then. He now says time is faster than light (whatever that means) and that the way we measure time is harmful to all life on Earth (how does that work?).
He now calls himself Valum Voltan and says he is the re-incarnation of a Mayan priest, last I heard. All this stuff was based on the fact that a Mayan count of days runs out of numbers on 21 or 23 December by our calendar. That has as much to do with the Mayan counting system as anything else. The Mayans counted by 20, then by 18s then by 20 again and so on.
The Mayans were pretty fair naked eye astronomers for a stone age people and had enough sense not to predict anything at all, except maybe party time. I reckon they were smarter than Arguelles.
He might be nuts but he did not say the world would end on 21 December 2012. All he said was that this would be the beginning of a new era. That was about 20 years ago.
Since then, people who are just as batty, but in a different way have grabbed his ideas and run away with them. Terence McKenna was an habitual user of psychedelic drugs and wrote down visions. He also produced a special (mis)interpretation of the I Ching, and when it didn’t quite fit 2012 he fudged it.
Another called Nancy Lieder claimed that aliens had abducted her about 1993 and told her that a planet called X would pass close to the Earth and cause a magnetic pole shift and other damage. That would be in 2003. Since it didn't come, she started making up stories of how it was a trial to test the governments of the world and that the planet would appear later. She usually says 2012 as far as I know.
Apart from Voltan, Mc Kenna and Lieder, others have jumped on the bandwagon and have predicted everything from bees dying to collisions with stray planets. There are supposed to be alignments with the other planets or the centre of the galaxy, a photon belt, crossings of the galactic central plane and on and on, none of which will happen. And dear old Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce get quoted too, as if anyone believes that stuff.
So, one thing that will happen at the end of December 2012 is that some people will realise that scientists and people of commonsense were right all along, and that the pseudo-historians, fake scientists, astrologers, drug users like Terrence McKenna, new-age gurus, lunatic fringe end-times “Christian” preachers, paranoiacs and other ratbags were wrong or lying.
The promoters of this, including the History Channel are vicious liars or wrong and only in it for the money. They are trying to sell "survival" supplies, shelters, books, videos and what all, but to do that you have to frighten people first.
