is the prophesy of the end of the world in 2012 true?
I read books, skeptics and prophesies that have dated back all the way to mayans and egyptians witch is stated in there calendars that something will happen in 2012. Really is just curiosity. Just want to know what other people think. thanx!
The suggestion that there are lots of ancient writings by the Mayans, Egyptians and others pointing to some doomsday in 2012 is total bunk. It's been made up by the crackpots trying to promote this fake doomsday. When anyone does some proper research, they find that there's not a scrap of evidence, historical or scientific, for any of it. It's complete nonsense. Ignore it.

End of the World?! Brahman Prophecy
What's a good book about the end of the world?
It's either end of the world or a HUGE HUGE HUGE disaster like in the movie "2012". But "20120" is about the end of the world. You get my point.
@Alina: I know the movie. I've seen it. It's my all-time favorite! I mentioned it in the question.
I can think of books where some pretty major disasters happen, and can think of books that occur after the world "ended."
If you want a complex, over 600 page book with some pretty huge disasters, a fiction almost horror with an intricate plot, try The Scar by China Mieville. Perdido Street Station comes before it, but the two are only loosely related.
If you want one after the world "ended," try Exodus. Global warming flooded the world, and now people have to deal with it.
Bec by Darren Shan is about the world ending. It comes in the middle of the Demonata series but shares no characters with any of the previous books, so you should be okay reading it.
I just remembered. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman is about the Apocalypse, but it's fiction humor. The four horsemen ride out anf everything...
