end of the world 2012 why
Why again and again people are asking about the end of the world in 2012?
For someone who dies now is it not the end of his world ? Why fuss about a date from a long forgotten calender of a dead civilization. It is all bull **** to me or is it a conspiracy by some religious fanatics to confuse and look for cheap publicity. I wonder anyone has already started selling talisman to protect people from this calamity.
All the claims of doomsday in 2012 fall into one of these categories:
1) Pure invention or fantasy - Planet X, Planet Nibiru, photon belt.
2) Physically impossible before or during 2012 - pole shift.
3) Not going to do us any harm - any form of 'alignment'.
4) Plain lie - planetary alignment, galactic alignment, ancient predictions.
5) Exaggerated to a ridiculous degree - solar activity.
Professional scientists have gone on the record to say that nothing will happen. Would they jeopardise their reputations? On the other hand, people predicting doom have no reputation to uphold in the first place. Someone who thinks he's a reincarnated Mayan priest, a woman receiving extraterrestrial messages via a brain implant, a Belgian who thinks he's cleverer than Einstein, a man who went for a trip on a flying saucer and likes to frighten young girls by telling them that the end is near.
Who do you want to believe? It really is no contest.

If the world is ending in 2012 why are we not doing anything?
well i have been hearing a lot of stuff about this whole 2012 thing and im really scared. i even hear stuff about it at school. and i f people are talking about it and they think its going to happen..why are we not doing anything why are there no public announcements , why aren't we preparing...im just really scared i don't want to die. And if this were to happen what would we do?
We're not doing anything because it's complete and utter bull.
The "2012 doomsday" is a hoax. It's a fraud. It's a con job. It's a cruel and cynical lie being promoted by unscrupulous pseudo-scientific cranks who have a monetary interest: They want to sell their books, videos, 'survival kits', and spaces in non-existent shelters in Antarctica, and to divert attention from the fact that they have been wrong so many times before. It's also being pushed by people who are promoting a Hollywood disaster movie due out later this year.
All of the claims of 'predictions' by the Maya, the Aztecs, the Incas, the Hopi, the Chinese (I Ching), Nostradamus, Sir Isaac Newton, Edgar Cayce, Mother Shipton are false: They did not make the claimed predictions. Predictions by others such as José Argüelles, Terrence McKenna, Nancy Leider, Mark Hazelwood and others are contrived pseudo-scientific nonsense.
There will be no sudden 'pole shift', either geographic or magnetic. There will be no 'killer solar flares'. There is no 'Photon Belt'. These are fiction. There will be no 'galactic alignment' or 'planetary alignment' of any kind, and we will not pass through the central plane of the galaxy, and even if these events were to occur, they would not cause any problems for us.
There is no "Planet X" or Nibiru. If someone claims that this object exists, then many regulars in this forum have been asking for the RA/Dec coordinates for it. One website is offering $5,000 for these coordinates.

Olympic summer games in London
Leap Year
U.S. Presidential election
Transit of Venus on June 6th
