What are the 'supposed' events that will make the world end in 2012? (I don't believe in 2012 , I just need the info for a Speech.)

There are no scientific facts or events that will make the world end in 2012.
The stuff about "supervolcanoes" is completely unfounded - even the USGS says there is no reason to expect Yellowstone to erupt in the near future.
Our magnetic poles have switched in the past, but it takes thousands of years of steadily decreasing magnetic field strength to happen. If the field continues to decrease in strength at its present rate it could collapse and switch ---- in AD 3000 (not 2012).
There is no reason or way for the world to blow up.
Why is everyone worried about the end of the world?
In 2012 the world is apparently going to end, how many times has this been said through out the years?
They said it was gonna end in the 1970's, did it? Nope!
Apparently we were all going to die last September, did we? No!
It's just this years excuse for people to go around crying their eyes out.
After 2012 has been and gone the new big thing will be the meteor coming NEAR Earth in about 29 years, but it should miss and if not scientist have it all sorted out.
If everyone spends their hole time worrying about how we are all going to die we they won't enjoy their life.
Exactly! All that fuss about the end of the world is just plain silly and appeals to weak minded people. It's also a way for some folks to use fear and superstitions to try to control others .

So the moment I hear someone naming a date, I think "baloney!" and just go on about my business. I agree with you, we should enjoy our lives, and not be worrywarts all the time. Besides, if one truly has faith, they'll be ok whether or not the "end of the world" comes.

It's been said that the world will end in December of 2012. AJ seems to think that he would waste his money and time starting college in the fall of 2012, if the world will end in December.

Argument #1 to Enroll in College -
The world could end at any moment. I don't know for sure that I'll get to finish typing this sentence. Whoa. I made it!
Seriously, we are majorly overdue for a large asteroid to completely destroy us - geological history has shown that we're overdue, and one could smack into us at any moment. Yes, we have scientists and machines watching the skies all the time - but here's the creepy part - they're only watching for asteroids big enough to destroy the ENTIRE earth. They don't even scan for asteroids small enough that they only wipe out a large country or continent. So any moment - BOOM!
And lest we forget the threat of super volcanoes. Seriously! Yellowstone park is one large exposure of the earth's mantle. Given the right tectonic stress it could turn into a volcano capable of wiping us out in a matter of days. We may have no warning.
Argument #2 to Enroll in College -
That whole Mayan thing might not exactly be true or as devastating as some would fear.
The Mayan calendar doesn't actually end in 2012 as some have claimed (source, source) - it starts another cycle in their calendar. And, "the last time a Great Cycle restarted was September 18th, 1618, and surprisingly, the world did not conclude. Nor did it on June 15th, 1224, or on March 13th, 830. There is no evidence anywhere in the archaeological record of Mayans who associated the restarting of the Great Cycle with cataclysm." (source). You see, the Mayans looked at time and calendars as cyclical, instead of being in straight lines. So the long count calendar which people use to calculate the date of the "end of the world" could/should easily be viewed as just the end of a cycle - not the end of the world.
Plus even the Mayans believed that the "passing of an entire cycle as a great accomplishment and time of rejoicing" (source). Many believe this will be - if anything - an age of rebirth and a new era of humanity and the earth.
Besides, Nostradamus didn't think the world would end until 3797. So we've got a little more time on our hands.
Conclusion - Whether an asteroid wipes out humanity, or you get hit by a bus going to get the mail tomorrow, there's no reason not to live for today. And besides, if the world is really going to end, then he hasn't wasted his money at all, now has he? And even if life was too short, college and educating yourself is never a waste of time or a waste of life. Tell him to be cool, stay in school! Mr. T says so.

Nope. Volcanoes have always been around, and they've always spewed ash.
You're going to be able to find volcanoes erupting around the world at any time of the day. This one is just positioned in such a way that it interferes with our flight paths. The same kind of volcanoes would have erupted in the past, but wouldn't have mattered so much at the time since the people back then would have been restricted to traveling on the ground.

People are starting to believe that every 40,000 years the 10th planet gets nearby the Earth, and the aliens will come and end the world. And that on December 21, 2012, the calender will end. A lot of people are preparing for this date. Then, scientists are believing that a huge volcanic cloud will block the sun for 40 years.
This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard.
I haven't met one person who believes any of this.
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Do scientists really belive that the world will end in 2012?
Seriously? I'm confused by it all and its starting the holy SHIT out of me! If the world ends in 2012..thats a year after I get out of highschool..so I'm freaking out. Do scientists belive this will actually happen?
Scientists do not believe that the world will end in 2012 because there is no scientific basis for it to happen.
Do not be scared. I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day. Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700. He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet. Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Spratly Islands which is being claimed wholly or partly by six countries including China is in the news and considered a tinderbox, a flash point. It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait. The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.
