if you don't know check this website out www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org so basically it gives information about whats going to happen in 2012 and supposedly a group of scientists with the help of the government have put a lottery together to save the human race from the events in 2012. now WTF is this like the movie Deep Impact or what? is this serious or is just a movie or a type of entertainment... im confuse i need answers!!
People have been claiming the world is going to end soon for thousands of years: http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm
There is never any evidence for those claims.
Fortunately, the world doesn't listen to the ramblings of lunatics, and keeps not ending.
Today, it's possible to get rich off books, DVDs, and web site ads, providing a compelling reason to fuel end-times hysteria.
In reality, the world will end in 4-5 billion years, when the sun turns into a red giant.
If you're susceptible to belief in, well, nonsense like "end of the world" scares, you owe it to yourself to read Carl Sagan's "the demon-haunted world".
I am still so young I don't want to diiiiiiiiiiiie
I'll only be 21
Which means that you're 17 or 18 today and you should be educated enough to look at the sources of your fears. It's all garbage designed to sell books and DVDs. Nothing is going to happen. There is no Nibiru, no comet, no asteroid, no alignment, no powers, no predictions, nothing.
Think about it....the news media loves stories that scare people. Take global warming. All you hear is Al Gore and "the planet has a fever" and a bunch of goofy politicians screaming that we've got to save the planet. If 2012-end-of-the-world had any reality at all, it would be front page, first story on the TV news. It's not, because nothing is going to happen and even the news media won't try to sell it (except the History Channel, which will sell anything for ratings and advertisement revenue.).
Why didn't this question get 50 answers, like all the other 2012 questions?

You shouldn't believe the world will end in 2012. I saw them links too and they aren't accurate especially that yahoo movie link because movies are fiction. I remember it saying that there will be intense solar activity but, you cannot predict each flare on the sun and all there will be is auroras in the sky. BTW, this solar activity is predicted in mid 2013.
This 2012 stuff is a scam and way to make money off of people’s fears. It maybe true that that mayan calendar ends but, it doesn't mean the world is going to end just because of that. Did you know that one of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years? The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world and wasn’t meant to be. The Mayan Calendar has to end sometime just like other calendars. You know what is sad? People may commit suicide over this thinking its the end of the world. Or maybe some people would get unwise with their money and spend it all like crazy and be in thousands of dollars in debt, just because they thought the world would end. Then they have to pay it off later and deal with the stress of those bills. That's why those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished and nobody could predict the future.
From my research of this 2012 stuff I found out that, Planet X (Nibiru) isn't going to hit the Earth it doesn't exist. Then second, the Earth’s magnetic poles are switching everyday, this isn't going to happen all in just 1 day. This process takes thousands of years and throughout geological history there has been may pole switches and life has still survived. Third, I hear that people are saying these poles will switch in one day due to a black hole. That's NOT true. The nearest black hole to our galaxy is 1600 light years away and we don’t have to worry. Forth, Sun will be lined up with a sunspot, but it doesn't mean it will wipe out all life on Earth. One time ago, Earth was lined up with a sunspot and people were on it and everybody didn't just die. It just disrupted radio waves and it may cause a disruption. Fifth, there is not going to be catasphoic earthquakes. Sixth of all, no coment will hit Earth or asteroids and that can’t be predicted. Seventh, these cultures such as the Japanese, Mayans, Japanese and Egyptians didn't predict such a thing. Finally, If you have been watching the Hysteria Chanel about 2012 or anything like that, all they are just trying to do is scare people so they can make money.
Each time the end the world is predicted. They are always wrong. Here are all the predictions of when the world would end and each time they where wrong. Every year there is a prediction like this. I'm sure that if 2012 doesn't happen, they will think of something else. Through out history the end has been predicted but has never happened. Also, think about this. If the Mayans were able to predict the future, why couldn't they see what would happen to their society in the future?
2012 really the end of the world Do you think the world will really end in 2012?
I've been hearing the world will end in 2012, I'm honestly sick of hearing that, but i really hope the world does not end, it kinda makes me nervous and scared.
So what do you think?
And where is the proof the world will end?
I don't believe in God or the devil by the way so let's not relate this to that
No. This is an urban legend that has been around since the beginning of time. Whether religiously based or so called prophecies by soothsayers, psychics, or pranksters … the world would have ended time and time again by now if every prediction came true. Like PT Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute". Make a dozen predictions and end up with one that vastly stretched could have the slightest resemblence to an actual outcome and everyone magically forgets the rest. It makes for good media hype, particularly by the tabloids that ALWAYS tell the truth. LOL. The present is all that is real. The future has not arrived. The ability to choose and change one's ways can alter the course of the future. Relax and seize the day. Live like tomorrow was your last day and, hey if it does end, you will not have anything to worry about and you will not be alone. There's no telling what is in store for us. No one has traveled to the future and come back to tell us. One thing is for sure - life as we know it today will end and change as the world progresses.
