2012 prophecies
For those who believe in the 2012 prophecies, do you feel it will be a catastrophic event or ...?
A global enlightenment?
(By 2012 prophecies I mean the end of the Mayan Calender, Oracle of Delphi prophecies of the end of days and many more)
Also, does anyone believe that 2012 will be when the Apocalypse spoken about in the bible will happen?
I am not saying I believe in this but just curious because I had come across a site that said these prophecies were actually pointing to a global enlightenment rather than an apocalypse and was curious how many believers of these prophecies believe it will be destruction or enlightenment. I would love some answers from people who believe in this one way or the other.

According to prophecies what is suppose to happen in 2012?
I know that many think that bad is to come during this time, but why? I understand that it can be all crazy too, but why and what is it all about. There is so much on the net that I just would like the basics. Thanks
What prophecies? There are no old texts that say something bad is going to happen on 2012. All this doomsday talk is a modern invention based on the end of the Mayan calender cycle.
The Mayan calender ends, or resets, on Dec. 21st., 2012 of our calender. Just as our calender ends on Dec. 31st. every year, the Mayan calender ends after a much longer count, which is over 5000 of our years. That's it. Nothing else. People just decided to take this and make a big deal of doomsday paranoia to get attention, make books and movies, etc. In other words, this sells.
That fateful day will come and pass like the 1st. day of the year 2000. Nothing extraordinary. You can still put up your X-mas lights and such.
