Did the mayans predict the world would end or a world changing event?


I don't believe that the world is gonna end in 2012, thats kinda stupid to think that the mayans can tell the future when they used to do human sacrifices to keep the sun happy. But did they predict the end of the world, or an event that would just change it? Did we just change their prediction into the end of the world?

It's a myth.

It was based on the Mayan Long Count calender.

A B'ak'tun of the Long Count calender lasts 394.3 years and will reset in 2012 and start a new B'ak'tun similar to the way our calender resets the day after December 31 and start a new year.

Mayans didn't predict the end of the world.

12-21-2012 end of the world!?


So I've been researching a lot about this 12/21/2012, end of the world thing.According to the Mayan Calendar, everything ends on 12/21/2012. They foresaw it and forewarned us. They left clues such as crystal skulls. I want to know what you guys think about this end of the world prediction.

I think it's BS.

Just because the Mayans figured out astronomy doesn't give them automatic rights to predict the end of the world. Hell, I could predict the end of the world and provide "evidence" if I wanted to. Even people of Mayan background living today say it isn't going to end in 2012. Nobody knows when it will actually end.

How many times has the end of the world been predicted already? like....10?

That the world will end & it will be caused by a man of Middle Eastern descent?

I actually used to live among the Mayans while in Peace Corps (one of my crazy facts is that I speak a Mayan language). I, however, have trouble believing that the world will end in 2012 as some say the calendar says, but rather there may some major change in the world.
