As for the Mayans; they believed that the Earth was flat and had 4 corners. They also believed that the sky was held up by 5 large trees each one a different color, and believed the Earth rested on the back of a giant crocodile! They worshiped the SUN god!
Does this give you any confidence that they knew ANYTHING about the Earth or the universe!

Will the end of the world in 2012 be true?
I have heard many people saying the world will end in 2012, I even seen graffiti on a wall saying " 2012 will come.. " Its kinda freaking me out so can anyone give me a answer on wheather its possible or is just a bunch of lies.. Thanks 
This is based on the fact that a Mayan calendar that was found (or something) ended at a particular date in 2012, which obviously mean the end of the world, and not a shortage of paper and writing utensils. These 'judgement day' predictions happen all the time, and when their predicted date speeds past, it's approximately 20 seconds before they think up the next date, usually a couple of years away, so that people either forgot that they said it, or get completely freaked out up until that date. Don't worry about it, because (lets face it), if 2012 is the end of the world, there's not really anything we can do about it anyway.
