the end of the world aztec Whats your opinion on the beliefs of the aztec calender and how its end is believed to b the end of the world?
im just curious im not serious about it but knowing something about it can help if it happens lol
Although the Mayans and the Aztecs did share some calendars, the Long Count was not one of them. Only the Mayans used that one, which is the one everyone claims is "ending" on 12-21-2012.
Relax. It's not. That is the first day of Baktun 13. The Baktuns go up to 20, and then....does it end....no! The Piktuns begin. And that's thousands of years away--every Baktun is about 400 years long.
Is the Aztec calender end on 2012 is that the end of the world.?
First off, it's the MAYAN calendar everyone's talking about, not the Aztecs. The Aztecs didn't use the Long Count.
And the Long Count calendar doesn't end on 12-20-21. It rolls over from 12 Baktuns to 13 Baktuns (a Baktun is about 400 years long) like ours did going from 1999 to 2000.
On that day there is a once in 26,000 year astronomical alignment, a conjunction between the sun and the Milky way at Dawn which signals the beginning of a new world age.
Read "Maya Cosmogenesis 2012" by John Major Jenkins for a lot more on this subject. Read my 2012 article on my Jaguar Nights blog or my regular website for other information on that day.
What is the exact date? In the book 2012 by Daniel Pinchbeck I thought it was December 21, but in school the teacher told us the 23?
If 2012 is real, suppose thousands of years later, won't who/whatever is alive look back, see that we knew and were warned abot 2012, and wonder why we didn't do anything to prepare?
To me, it seems like a "we'll never know" in the making...
Any thoughts? Both those who do believe 2012 and not?
Y2K AND 2012 ARE ENTIRELY UNRELATED.
Y2K was concerned with digital and non-digital documentation and data-storage situations resulting from the practice of abbreviating a four digit year to two digits i.e. 99, 00
21 Dec, 2012 is the final date of the 13th b'ak'tun in the Mesoamerican long-count calendar, most notably found in ancient Mayan lore. It is the final date of the present age - the Age of Pisces and the beginning of the New Age, the Age of Aquarius. This calendar was created millenia ago. It is important to note that 21 Dec, 2012 is not the end of the entire long-count calendar - there are the 14th through 20th b'ak'tuns that proceed afterwards.
The following is the only Mayan inscription regarding the current age and 2012:
>>Monument 6 from Tortuguero is currently generating discussion as it includes the only known inscription depicting the end of the current 13-baktun era in 2012.[4] Grube, Martin and Zender have stated[5] it refers to “the end of the 13th b’ahktun which we will see in the year 2012” and as to what will happen, they say, “…utom, “it will happen” (O4) followed by something that we cannot read (P4) and he “will descend” yem (O5). The last glyph begins with ta followed by something. However, this is not the end of the world.”<<
There are so many theories and so much hype surrounding this date, it's best you do your own research and make up your own mind, take any information your read with a grain of salt.
