Nicolas Cage stars in this largely unsatisfying science-fiction tale that begins as a taut and spooky story concerning psychic legacies and ends up falling back on Steven Spielberg's old, cosmic playbook for default explanations about weird phenomena...

The Vision and Beyond, prophecies fulfilled and still to come The Vision and Beyond, prophecies fulfilled and still to come

Description

In this compelling release, David Wilkerson brings the reader up to date and into the future. He firmly believes that we are now living in the time the Bible refers to as "the beginnings of sorrows" and that the world is racing toward Armageddon.

End of Zee World

Was there or was there not a failed end of the world prediction (1975) by the Watchtower Society?

I asked how many members it cost the organization when the prediction failed, and some disgruntled JWs are calling me a liar and insisting no such prediction was ever made, even though I read about it on religioustolerance dot org.
My previous question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100608072330AAbwvA1

Yes.

Here are some of Russell and Rutherford's own false predictions that never came true, from Watchtower publications:
1.) 1872: The beginning of the millennium. False, so Watchtower Publications later changed the date to 1975. Wrong again!
2.) 1874: Christ's second coming. The Bible says that He shall come in the clouds, and every eye shall see Him. Jesus Christ did not return in 1874.
3.) 1914: All world governments will be overthrown. God will glorify His people, and govern the world. Later, Watchtower Publications admitted that these prophecies and those of 1918, and 1925 had been wrong.
4.) 1915: When man's governments had not been replaced by God's in 1914, the date was changed to 1915. Later, the Wtachtower Society admitted that these prophecies "had not been fulfilled". (Gee, ya think??)
5.) 1918: The end of Gentiles times. The churches to all be destroyed. Did not happen.
6.) 1920: Mountains, republics, and kingdoms will disappear. Pretty sure that did not happen, either.
7.) 1925: "There will be NO slip-up... Abraham should enter upon the actual possession of his promised inheritance in the year 1925." Watchtower publications later admitted that this prediction, and those of 1914, 1915, and 1918 had been wrong.
8.) 1929: The Watchtower Society built a house for the return of faithful OT people. It became an embarrassing monument to a false prophecy, and it was sold in 1948.
9.) 1932: The overthrow of Christendom. Previously had been predicted for 1918, later moved to 1925, and again to 1932. Still has not happened.
10.) 1975: Beginning of the millennium. Because the Millennium had not begun in 1872 as prophesied, the date was changed to 1975. When this date passed without the prophecy being fulfilled, many JWs (don't know how many, sorry) applied Russell's test of a false prophet, and left the movement.

C.T. Russell and J.F. Rutherford, the men that made these false prophecies, claimed that they were based on their interpretations of scripture. In all these points, their interpretations had dates, so they could be put to the test, and they were wrong. The interpreations of scripture BY THESE SAME MEN, are the basis for all JW doctries and teachings.

is evidence in hindsight really evidence?

all of these end of the world profecies only really make sense after the event happened. does that mean that we are just fitting the evidence to the prediction? and how accurate could that be? aren't we drawing the target around the gunshot?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_sharpshooter_fallacy

for example, the nostradamus predictions.

"the wheels on the bus" could predict the fall of the roman empire and the fires of london, so why is this guys stuff taken seriously?
ex pro and ex con

the apocolypse hasn't started yet, so those "theories" have not been proven.

you made yourself look like an idiot

No, it's only evidence to the delusional.

Can a non-Christian be a Preterist?

Can a non-Christian be a Preterist?

I mean the Jewish Nation was enting into open, violent rebellion with Rome. Did John of Patmos really have to be a prophet to predict that the World would come to an End (for Jews)?

I do not think that I have to believe in Jesus as the Christ to realize that people were laying bets (and making predictions) on how bad Jerusalem was going to get its but kicked.

The Book of Revelations seems to have covered the bases pretty well though.

"Preterism is a variant of Christian eschatology which holds that some or all of the biblical prophecies concerning the Last Days or End Times refer to events which already happened in the first century after Christ's birth."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preterism

Your fiction is non-historical. Fact is you did have to believe in Jesus as Christ, and Josephus is witness. All the Christians fled to Hella and environs, there is not one Christian death in the million or so killed. Not only that Josephus gives a handful of horrific examples that he says convinced even the Pagans that God was punishing Jerusalem.

It wasn't Revelations either, by the way, it was Matthew 24-25.

Recurring end of the world -Dream?

I've had this dream for multiple years..

There's some attack on the area in which i live.. everyone around me then is affected by some virus which takes over their minds, so i have no idea who i can trust.

It always ends with me running down the street
being chased by hundreds of people, but they can't catch me.

Any idea why i keep having this dream or what it means?

I have had a couple end of the world dreams. And It might just be something your really afraid of. Are you afraid of the end of the world? If so then that might be the trigger in your mind releasing these dreams. ALSO, have you seen movies involving some of these things? Obviously that stuff can slip in your dreams.
For me, I have these dreams because I'm afraid of the end of the world.
ALSO, my mom allways told me to tell people about my scary dreams..because they go away. Have you tried telling people? I hope this helps!

Swine flu is a man made virus ?

Swine Flu end of the world?

Is the swine flu the end of the world?

It seems unstoppable from my point of view. Already over 300 people in Australia have the swine flu virus, 54 of them in NSW (where I am) and spreading. And a few weeks ago everyone here in Australia were like "no way it will get here," because we were having health checks on all people coming from overseas- it seemed our country was safe.

But we were terribly wrong. First person comfirmed and still people didn't mind. Some just said "It was only one person." Then 10 people got it. "It won't get the whole country, we have it under control." And now over 300 and spreading. 2 schools have been closed down, around 200 kids have had to have swine flu vaccines and over 1000 kids have stayed home for a week, so as to be sure it won't spread.

I want to know, is this swine flu going to go all over the world or do you think the government has got it under control?

just make sure you catxh it ( sneeze in a tissue) bin it ( put it in the bin) and kill it (wash your hands lots of people in uk have it done worry i dont think its gonna end the world
