2012 Mayan Calendar Prediction?


I know aparantly the Mayans predicted that in 2012 the world would end or whatever, but most people believe this because they predicted other things that did indeed happen? What else did the Mayans predict in the past?

The Maya didn't predict that the world would end in 2012, nor did they predict anything else. Their long count calendar simply ends the current cycle and begins its next cycle. The rest was made up by crackpots and scam artists.

Here is an excellent website that covers all the various claims about 2012 and about the charlatans who are promoting it. Go to it and read about the things that have you concerned. They give sources for their information and they aren't selling anything. The others are NASA Senior Scientist Dr. David Morrison, Dr. Donald Yeomans of JPL Near Earth Object Program, and Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Director of the Hayden Planetarium, all saying that the 2012 tripe is….well, tripe.

Why are Christians so concerned about 2012 and the Mayan calendar?


It's based upon that "evil" astrology which your church forbids (and just happens to be the basis of our system of time itself,) and the Mayan's were considered savage devil worshippers by the good Christians that came over here and murdered them in the name of Jesus. Is it because deep inside you know that the Church has been telling lies for 1700 years, and you realize that your very own bible is heavily based upon astrology?

Maybe the Mayan calendar ended 2012 because they never got to finish it?


I think that they ever got to finish it. I mean they couldn't make it forever. Please answer it. I'm curious.

It ended because a spiritual cycle ended and a new starts. I don't know why they say that the world is going to ended in 2012 according to the mayans that information is false. My friend is Mexican of Mayan descendants and in her community the mayans had say that is false the world is not going to ended. The mayan community in Mexico have actually say the are tired of that question because is false.

A few years from now, how much do you think people will make of this whole 2012/Mayan Calendar thing?


First off, I am not a believer in all this stuff about the world ending in the year 2012. But I am very intrigued and fascinated by all the prophecies for that year, as well as the supposed fact that the Mayan calendat ends on December 21, 2012. This whole thing is being talked about more and more on the internet, and its even getting some air time in the mainstream media.

So my question is... how much do you think people will make of this when we actually get to 2012? Will there be mass riots? People giving away all their possessions? Building bomb shelters and all that?

I actually think there could be a fair bit of panic. But I guess we'll just have to wait a few years and see.

the world is not actually supposed to end on that day, it's just that the Mayans couldn't see beyond it. it is possible there will be some major catastrophic changes brought on by the chaos that insues, but other than that i don't believe the world is going to split open or anything else like that.

ya know... the reason the Mayan calendar ends on that date could be something very simple. maybe they just ran out of room and were too lazy to start another one?

Do you think it will be the end of time when the Mayan Calendar runs out in 2012?


The Mayan calendar runs out in 2012, is this going to be the end of the world as we know it or will it pass us by without a blip?

There are many thoughts and opinions regarding this concept. My personal opinion on it is more of a ending and beginning. I believe that it will be the end of civilization as we know it now or as we will know it then. As it will also be the beginning of a new type of living and spiritual awareness. There will also be in my view, a more available ability to increase natural awareness both physically and spiritually. Then again, this could happen at any time during any day. It will be when it needs to be. Having fear of it or the thought of it or of anything else for that matter will only cause unneeded negativity in your life. Keep the peace and don't fear of things unknown or that have yet to come.

With all things there is a cycle of beginning and end. Where there is something ending, something begins. It all holds the natural balance of everything in existence, known and unknown.
