Does gravity effect the earth's weather? Will it effect passing of the gravitaional plain on 12/21/2012?
As we grow closer to the year 2012 we get closer to the galaxies gravitaional plane. If gravity effects weather this will cause worldly disasters, like it states in the book of Revelation during the Tribulation.
This arises from the cranks who promote doomsday 2012 not understanding the difference between 2 and 3 dimensions. They claim that the Sun lining up with the galactic equator on 21st December 2012, will cause some sort of catastrophe. This is purely a line of sight effect because the Sun crosses the galactic equator every year as seen from the Earth. If you were on Mars, the Sun would cross the galactic equator at some different date. This goes entirely unnoticed every year, as it will in 2012.
Some of the cranks are confusing this with the 3 dimensional motion of the solar system around the galaxy, which is quite a different thing. The solar system occasionally dips up and down on its 225 million year orbit, but it has nothing to do with 2012. It's rather like observing an aircraft in the sky passing across the celestial equator and claiming it's actually crossing the Earth's equator.
The people who create these doomsday websites have little understanding of science.

Do you think there is any credibility to the prediction that 12/21/2012 will be catastrophic to the earth?
There is mounting legitimate scientific evidence that in the years leading to 2012 the earth may be facing some truely catastrophic events caused by sunspot storms, super volacanic eruptions and the current position of our planet in the solar system. Some of this evidence seems to offer validation to the Mayan prediciton of 12/21/2012 being a time of great change...possibly catastrophic. What do you think? Will 2012 be a time of postive or negative change or will it be business as ususal as has occured during other so called end of the world predictions? Why?

I just saw a big long History Channel deal on this the other day.
Did you know the Mayans were constantly adjusting their calendars year to year to "fit" the 12/21/12 end of the world scenario?
When you do look at all the evidence (as you said, the scientific evidence points to a very particular alignment of the sun and planets as I remember), it is a little frightening.
But I kind of don't believe in the inevitability of things like this.
Things change. You just never know.
I am not generally a glass-half-full type of personality, but after watching that show the other night, I kind of felt I had to be, or else I would be completely freaked out by the possibilities!
