The Mayans were and still are an amazing civilization. There are so many things that have been written about them, but there are many things that haven´t still be written about them New discoveries at El Mirador site were made recently that change in many ways what has been written about them.
So, what would you think is the most intriguing, mysterious, amazing, fact about the Mayans?
There were so many pre-Columbian groups including the Incas, Aztecs, Mayans, etc. What's very interesting is that they "seemed" to be in their heydey before the Spanish conquest. They built great structures, art, mysterious archecture, practiced agriculture, even astronomy. Now, you almost never hear of anything notable from their decendents. Question: What happened and why??
For the Mayans, it is probably the pyramids. The Incas had their terraglyphs and vast riches.

Surely peace would mean a homeland for Palestine and for Israel. Muslims and Christians would worship one God in peace. Ancient Mayans thought the end would be 2012. Many evangelical Christian groups think these are the last days. Muslims look to a prophet who fulfills Mohammed. Christians look to one who brings the millennium. Jews look for the Messiah. John McCain's teasing might really be the voice of an earlier straight-talker, a John called the Baptist. What if Obama is in fact the anticipated one? The idea of one world in peace might be coming. Something to think about which might make sense of all the differences.
The raise in taxes must be the sacrifice.
