Is It wrong to make an additional Mayan calander / 2012?
…. post here when there are currently already 1711 related results on the matter ( all by the same person) ?
This should be called the 2012 section.
There should perhaps be a special 2012 section. It would also be handy if questions posted in the wrong section could be moved. I'd love to see only proper space and astronomy questions here, completely devoid of any mention of 2012.
Alternatively, maybe we should all think about how we can capitalize on the 2012 phenomenon??

Why does the mayan calander end on 21-12-2012?
couldn't the mayans calculate beyond that, or are we unable to see the inevitable
It doesn't necessarily end in 21-12-2012, there is a longer form of the calendar. 21-12-2012 is just when that particular number system resets to 13,0,0,0,0,0
If the mayans wanted to count further they had a system of counting that could go on for approximately 63,000,000 years.
The only reason people are raving about 21/12/2012 is because it's coming up soon and a spreading a bit of fear amongst the gullible sells books and movie rights and makes money for the not so gullible.
