Why is Western Society so obsessed with Apocalypse ?
Every time i turn to the history channel i see this:

every time i long on or go on youtube:

etc etc.
I mean why is it that we all seemed obsessed by dying? I mean come on, i know all about the Bible Codes, but come on!
Look, it is just a noisy minority, mostly in the USA. Western society includes Canada, the USA, the UK, France, Holland, Germany, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, most of South America and even South Africa. The way India and Sri Lanka are going they will be part of it too, or at least an adjunct to western society in a few dozen years. To most intents and purposes Japan is western too.
Most of the population outside the USA laughs at this stuff, and it laughs at the rapture ready retards who are into stuff like the "Left Behind" garbage. Track this stuff to where it originates, it isn't all that hard. Does it come from Australia? Britain? Canada? Of course the odd one does. But nearly all of it comes from the USA. Even inside the USA most people regard it as nonsense.
The "History Channel" is known for pushing this kind of garbage. It is just a version of the idiotic magazines like Nexus that have been circulating for years.
YouTube carries anything that does not breach copyright. I personally believe that there are just a few hundred people making these nonsense videos. They recycle various pieces of drivel which have been around for years, in some cases since the early 1950s or much before, but the 15 year olds who watch the vids don't know that.
Some are practical jokes, not very original, some are pushing religious cults (Saint Birgitta,com) and some are there to promote and sell worthless survival guides, freeze-dried food and camping gear. And guns.
Michael Drosnin's Bible Codes are fakes, that was shown a few months after the first book was published about a dozen years ago, he was just cashing in on the movement.
I'll put my tin foil hat on for a moment and wonder if there is some kind of "conspiracy" going that is attempting to prevent people from thinking rationally. If you fill their heads with nonsense about 2012, young earth creationism, the Bermuda triangle, black helicopters, alien abductions, rapture, chem trails, HAARP, area 51 etc etc etc you can sell them almost anything from fake cancer cures to curtailment of their freedoms. Much of this can be done under the guise of "freedon of speech".
