2012 meteor Could we or would we shoot the 2012 meteor down or off coarse if we needed to?
It does not exist. Disaster in 2012 is a long list of different lies told by different people as a sort of sick joke, to get people into nasty religious cults like Saint Birgitta or purely to sell worthless books and other stuff.
If something the size of a meteor was coming, we could move it fairly easily as they are generally smaller than houses to start with. If something about that size hit a major city it would do a lot of damage but if it fell in the middle of the Pacific Ocean hardly anyone would notice.
If it was 10 or 1000 times bigger we could do something about it if we got enough of a start. The amount of start needed depends on the size.
If you mean something really big there is nothing much that can be done. With 100 years start it might be possible to nudge it enough to make it miss altogether and maybe fall into the Sun or hit the Moon, or Venus, or something.
Just blowing it up isn't likely to do any good as all the fragments would be likely to hit us anyway. If it was really big you could not blow it up anyway.
Stop worrying about 2012. It is all lies and the movie is based on lies and woo-woo nonsense from the tin foil hat bunch, it has about as much reality as "Star Wars".

Meteor Smash 2012 problem
How do you feel about the meteor that will pass by the earth in 2012?
I heard the United Nations are thinking of sending a satelite to deflect it's gravity, but what if they don't. Or what if it doesn't work. What do you think will happen? Are you scared?
That is some scary stuff. Who knows exactly what will happen? Think about if that could mean the possible end of the world and the chaos that would occur. Knowing that we may possibly be able to countdown our own death. Thats just freaky lol. But you know our good old government, "well take care of it later." So hopefully others in the UN will get some scientists on the ball for this.
I just updated my blog The 2012 Meteor – Myth or Impending Reality :
