Will the earth end on December 21st, 2012?
What scientific background is there to support this theory?
Is it just a big joke?
Is there a possibility that the earth might actually end on this date?
Are governments actually building boats as to ensure the survival of some?
If the earth will end on this date, how will it happen?

THE WORLD WILL NOT END IN 2012!
How many times will people have to fucking say it. There is no legitimate scientific proof to suggest that we will all die in 2012 because some stray planet inhabited by fallen angels is going to pass right by us.
Yes, I can assure you that this 2012 bullshit is all a big hoax and a scam. Have you seen all the books and the videos about 2012? How many idiots do you think buy those? It's a scam. Honestly, you'd think we would have learned by now not to believe this crap after the 2001/2003 crap, the start of the new millennia bull and all the other predictions of doomsday.
Now is there a possibility the world will end on this day? Frighteningly yes. Theoretically, the world could end at any given moment. It could literally end right NOW. But it will not happen through all this bullshit of a theory.
No, they aren't building anything to protect us from 2012, if anything they should be building it because of global warming, that could seriously kill us right now.
How the Earth will end, there are a number of interesting theories:
Alien invasion
Super volcanic eruption
Ice age
Global warming
Nuclear holocaust
Meteor impact
Robot uprising
Grey goo
Stray blackhole
Strange matter
Gamma ray burst, or a GRB
Dark Galaxies
Now all of theories ARE possible.
-For one, the mathematical probability of aliens existing is high, VERY high. They could want our planet.
-There are a number of super volcanoes out there, Yellow Stone being an example - she's actually overdue for an eruption.
-Because of global warming, we could literally go into an ice age any second.
-Have you seen what we do to our planet? Give this one time, and it will kill us.
-Almost every 1st world country has a nuclear arsenal. It could just be one misreading on a radar in a missile silo somewhere out there and...
-It killed the dinosaurs, it can kill us.
-Robots are getting smarter, it's not much time until they get smarter than humans and decide to take over.
-Grey goo apocalypse is caused by nanobots. We actually have them, and soon they will be on the molecular level. They will be built to create other nanobots from the matter around them. Invasion of the Grey Goo is when they get out of control.
-Black holes are almost invisible there could be one headed right for us - hell one might have already started eating the planet
-Strange matter is too hard to explain, but what happens is anything it touches will turn into strange matter, you get the rest
-GRB's are when a MASSIVE star dies, two jets of pure gamma ray radiation and energy go spewing out for light-years at the speed of 99.99999% the speed of light. The jets could already be heading our way.
-Dark galaxies, or ninja galaxies as they are now to be called, are entire galaxies made of nothing but dark matter and blackholes. They are invisible, one could be heading our way right now.

Is it true the earth will end in 2012?
Well people say their is gonna be a
HUGE meteor in 2012. and they say if it hits land it will mess up the core of the earth. and that we will all die. or if hits the ocean, that the ocean will rise and that we would all drown.. is this whole meteor coming in 2012 thing true..?
People say? What people? There are no BIG asteroids on a collision course with Earth for 2012. This is just one scenario in the 2012 hoax.
We have also heard, a magnetic pole shift, aliens with death rays, a black hole will swallow the Earth, Planet X will move Earth off it's orbit, a solar flare will kill everyone, the Earth and sun will line up with the center of the Galaxy, and the Mayan calendar ends.
All of these (and others) are complete junk science nonsense.

I predict that the 2013 hoax will gain popularity when nothing happens in 2012, just like 2001 suddenly became more interesting after diddlysquat happened in 2000.
In ten to twelve years, the cycle will repeat and a new brand of bullshit will be sold. 2024? Or will it happen early in 2020? It's impossible to say what the charlatans will agree on before it happens.
By the way, the Mayans didn't predict anything. There are just people making stuff up, pretending it's true and selling it.
