Is the world REALLY coming to an end in 2012?
Ok so Nostradamus predicted that the USA would totally fall down, in which they have - economy wise. But that was only one of his first predictions. He's predicted World War 3 and the Planet X (the Niribu star) will bring the world to a close. The Mayan Calendar predicts that the world will end on 21st of December 2012 (aww, we don't reach Christmas! =[ ) What are your opinions?

So i just wanted to get many peoples views on this whole "The world is going to end in 2012".
So do you think the end of the world is going to happen on the 21st of December 2012?
Why or why not?
Do people saying 'The world is going to end in 2012' annoy you?

Thanks! Oh and I don't think the world is going to end. Neither from a planet that will collide or just come close enough to Earth to kill us all, The 'end' of the Maya calender, Nostradamus' prediction or the solar storm prediction.

I know that all predictions of doom and disaster in December 2012 are lies. They are frauds for commercial gain and spread by corrupt television channels, corrupt publishers and dishonest web site owners.
The prophecies from the Mayan calendar and Nostradamus do not exist. The Mayan calendar thing was invented by Jose Arguelles who also claims to be a reincarnated Mayan priest. In reality, the Mayans predicted that something would descend into something else. The inscription is damaged so it is anyone's guess what it actually meant. Probably party time.
Nostradamus is nearly always quoted by those who predict the end of the world and was quoted for the last end of the world in 1999 - 2000. Nobody who quotes him ever says exactly where the prophecy is in his books since some people could check and prove them to be liars.
There is no stray planet called X or Nibiru. If one of these was due to be here in December 2012 it would already be visible. X was supposed to be here in 2003 by Nancy Lieder who claims to hear alien voices in her head. Nibiru is supposed to be here after 2085 by Zecharia Sitchin who invented it.
Timewave Zero was cooked up by a big-time drug user called Terrence McKenna out of the I Ching, a Chinese book of divination intended for personal fortune telling, and therefore just an old superstition. His first version supposedly showed the end of the world or something in November 2012. That did not quite fit with Arguelles theories so McKenna fiddled it to fit.
The planets will not line up and it would not matter if they did.
The magnetic and geographic poles will not shift.
The 25,800 year precession cycle will not stop, start or change direction. It will merely be where it was 25,800 years before, just like it is all the time. This has no significance except to astronomers and not a great deal to them.
Nearly all neutrinos pass through the Earth as if it was not there and therefore cannot heat up the planet core, they carry virtually no energy each in any case. There are no "special" neutrinos emitted by the Sun.
The peak in solar activity is expected in early - mid 2013 and is expected to be about average, it happens about every 11 years in any case. Even if it turns out to be a big one, it may cause a few blackouts for a few hours in places where power grids are already under strain and it may affect a few land phone lines. The majority of communications is by fibre-optics now and this cannot affect them
Most of the stories of galactic line ups are false, that includes the Sagittarius thing. One is nearly true but it happens every year about 18 December. Nothing happens then and the others would not matter if they were true. The centre of the galaxy is too far away to bother us much.
There are no known asteroids, comets or large meteors expected. The Earth will be struck by meteors, but that happens all the time. Most of them burn up in the upper atmosphere and put on a brief light show.
Earthquakes happen almost hourly, some are big, most are small. They cannot be predicted this far out.
